Are Nigerian thugs trying to kill Newcastle striker Obafemi Martins? According to The Sun, last night a “gang” of masked gunmen sprayed his Mercedes SUV with bullets while he and a friend sat inside at a gas station in Lagos . His passenger suffered gunshot wounds to the hand and shoulders but it sounds like he’s going to be OK. Incredibly, Obafemi believes that the shooting was in response to him missing a recent international match. Insane.

West Ham’s Teddy Sheringham has ‘catagorically denied’ giving false information to police over a speeding offense, which he was arrested for last month. He was released on bail by Scotland Yard officials shortly after being taken into police custody. Of course, this comes just days after Teddy received his MBE. I don’t know what’s more shocking about this story–the arrest or the fact that Sheringham was actually awarded a medal for his ’services to football’.

Also worth noting: His teammate, Bobby Zamora was arrested last week on suspicion of ‘perverting the course of justice’. (That sounds a helluva lot more bad ass than giving false info, right?) Apparently Bobby was trying get out of a speeding ticket by telling authorities that his friend was driving. Nice one!
